Submissions Guidelines

Celebrationworks at Seaside Off-Broadway Theatre does Staged Readings of plays. Everything produced at Seaside Off-Broadway Theatre is based in humor, even serious subjects, it's what we do best.

CELEBRATIONWORKS at Seaside Theatre (www.celebrationworks.org) in Encinitas, California, seeks unpublished, unsentimental, off-beat, comedic one act plays 10 to 30 minutes, limited set, maximum of 5 actors, for staged readings and production.

While we have no desire to limit anyone's creativity, we can't do plays that contain violence, are sexually explicit or contain obscenity.

At this time, we are unable to do adaptations, musicals, or plays with children, children's plays.

A signature Celebrationworks play is humorous, contains fresh ideas, characterization, dialogue, plot, is thoughtful without being ponderous has significance and is theatrical. Plays that shed new light on hopes, fears and joys of different cultures, race, lifestyle, political loyalties and religious beliefs, express human dilemmas and have consequences, get our attention.

We prefer unpublished plays and plays that have not been produced in Southern California. (Plays that have had staged readings are eligible.) Email submissions accepted. A cover letter, a synopsis, and credits, if you have them, should accompany the play. Please submit material via email in PDF or Word doc to celebrationworks@gmail.com.

FEBRUARY 2012; LOVE IN MANY FLAVORS, one act off beat, comedy relationship plays. Deadline January 1, 2012. Send via email attachment.
